“Finding the Lost,” a presentation by a professional private investigator will
be the Cheyenne Genealogical and Historical Society’s capstone program which
will be held May 13, 2025, at Laramie County Community College, Union Pacific
Centennial Room, 1400 E. College Drive, Cheyenne.
Join the CGHS event, which will begin at 6:00 p.m. with check-in, a silent
auction and dinner as prelude to the program at 7:00 p.m. Registration for the $25
dinner is necessary for this event by calling Valerie at 307-631-0478; deadline for
reservations is Tuesday, April 29. Guests wishing to attend the program-only for $5
must also pre-register.
Stephen J. Miller, owner of SJ Miller Associates, a licensed private
investigation firm in Cheyenne, will discuss ways to identify relatives, heirs and
missing people and other topics relevant to genealogy and family history research.
With over 45 years of experience in law enforcement and private investigation, he
served as a Special Agent, rising to the rank of Chief Special Agent with the
Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation for 20 years before retiring in 2002.
Miller has since worked as a private investigator for various clients, including
businesses, law firms, government agencies, and individuals. He holds a master's
degree in public administration from the University of Wyoming, a bachelor's
degree in history from Ohio State University, and an associate's degree in business
administration from Franklin University. He is a Certified Professional
Investigator, Certified Fraud Examiner, and he graduated from the FBI National
Academy in 1993.
This is the 2024-25 year-end program sponsored by the Cheyenne
Genealogical and Historical Society whose mission is to stimulate and encourage
family history research.
